If you are a Leftie, Then Left Handers Day is just for you!
Left Handers, also commonly referred to as Southpaws, are the brunt of more than
their share of jokes all year long. How do I know? Yup, you guessed it! It ain't easy
being a leftie. But those of us who are, would have it no other way. Lefties are
proud of it.
Remember today and every day: "Lefties have rights!"

National Aviation Day is observed in the United States on August 19 each year to
celebrate the history and development of the aviation. It coincides with the birthday
of Orville Wright who, together with his brother Wilbur, made significant contributions
to powered flight. Fast Track celebrates this day because we want you to fly on in

** HISTORY **
Origin: Unknown
During eleven out of the twelve months of the year, we enjoy a wide range of holidays.
When we get to August, there is a major shortage of big holidays to celebrate. Perhaps
that is why many Europeans take the month of August off for vacation.
Perhaps it as just as well that there are no big holidays to compete with National Marshmallow
Toasting Day. After all, how could any holiday compare with this day!
Enjoy today or tonight by a campfire or bonfire, toasting a big, soft, sticky and sweet marshmallow,
or two, or three, or….. Summer would not be the same without a campfire and this great campfire
treat.Summer is short. Summer is good. So enjoy it while it is still here. Toast a marshmallow and
forget about everything else.

For nearly 100 years the game of pinball has been delighting generations of Americans and the rest of the world. It has been a unique
form of American entertainment synonymous with Baseball, Jazz and Hollywood. Pinball not only serves as a reflection of American
pop culture, but also of America's technological innovations throughout the 20th Century. Although its prominence in the public eye has
been reduced, it still remains a distinctly American industry, providing thousands of US manufacturing jobs.
Recently inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame by the Strong Museum in Rochester, NY- pinball deserves a national day of
recognition.
In the past, pinball had endured many unfair smears and prejudices. Once considered a form of gambling and corruption of the youth, in
1939 it was banned in New York City by then Mayor Fiorello La Guardia. Other cities such as Chicago, Los Angles, Philadelphia, Salt Lake
City and many others across the nation soon followed suit.
The ban ended in April 1976 when a star witness for the AMOA – Amusement and Music Operators Association testified before a
committee in a Manhattan courtroom that pinball games were to be recognized as a game of skill and were not games of chance.
That man's name is Roger Sharpe and we propose that National Pinball Day be celebrated on Roger's birthday every August 1st starting
this year (2019) which also coincides with the opening day of Pinburgh; an event which will be the largest pinball event ever held.

Geocaching, a term first coined by Matt Stum on the "GPS Stash Hunt" mailing list
on May 30, 2000, was the joining of two familiar words. The prefix geo, for Earth,
was used to describe the global nature of the activity, but also for its use in familiar
topics in GPS such as geography.
Caching, from the word cache, has two different meanings appropriate for the
activity. A French word invented in 1797, the original definition referred to a hiding
place someone would use to temporarily store items. The word cache stirs up
visions of pioneers, gold miners, and even pirates. Today the word is still used by
news media to describe hidden weapons locations.
The second use of cache has more recently been used in technology. Memory
cache is computer storage that is used to quickly retrieve frequently used
information. Your web browser, for example, stores images so you don't have to
retrieve the same image every time you visit similar pages.
The combination of Earth, hiding, and technology made geocaching an excellent
term for the activity. However, the "GPS Stash Hunt" was the original and most
widely used term until Mike Teague passed the torch to Jeremy Irish in September
2000.
